Some
people
considering
ordained
ministry
start
their
study
of theology
before
they
begin
their
ministerial
training.
We offer
a programme
of study
which
is designed
to enable
those
who have
no previous
experience
of theology
to gain
a solid
foundation
in the
subject
within
a year.
The
programme
provides
an introduction
to Biblical
Studies,
Christian
Doctrine and Ethics, and Church in Practice.
Following
this
programme
has given
previous
students
an excellent
grounding
in theology
whether
they
have
continued
with
us for
their
ministerial
training
or gone
away
to theological
college.

Course
Structure
Our
pre-theological
year
involves
weekly
evening
classes
(6.30pm –
9.00pm)
during
term times
on either
a Tuesday
in Southwark or
Wednesday
in Medway.
The year
is divided
into three terms
and you
will study
one module
in each term.
You are
also expected
to read,
and complete
normally
two assignments
per module.
There
are no
examinations
and assessment
uses a
variety
of methods
from the
traditional
essay through
to presentations
and reflective
practice
reports.

Accomodating
Your
Needs
Students
taking
this programme
spend differing
lengths
of time
discerning
whether
their calling
is to minister
involves
ordination.
Our pre-theological
programme
is flexible
and accommodates
the needs
of people
who take
longer
to discern
their calling.
Students
can continue
with our
midweek
classes
for a number
of years
prior to
ministerial
training.
We
provide
programmes
of ministerial
training
at a suitable
level for
those who
have studied
theology
for a number
of years
prior to
training
for ministry.
