From September 2010, SEITE will be offering a new part-time Foundation Degree in Theology for Christian Ministry, accredited by Canterbury Christ Church University.  Alongside a nationally approved pathway for ordained ministry, it also has a pathway for lay people who would like to study theology at university level in a context where they are encouraged to relate their academic learning to on-going involvement in ministry and mission.  That involvement might range from e.g. a regular contribution as a volunteer to home groups, children’s work or pastoral care to a full-time job as a youth-worker.  We hope that this new programme will provide real opportunities for growth in faith, ministry and understanding for a wide variety of different people.  We also offer a programme leading to a full BA for those who already have a Diploma or Foundation Degree in Theology.

Course Structure
Studying at SEITE involves weekly evening classes (6.30pm – 9.00pm) during term times on either a Tuesday in Southwark or Wednesday in Medway. The year is divided into three terms and you will study one module in each term.

In each year, you will study a module in each of the following three strands of our curriculum: Biblical Studies, Christian Doctrine and Ethics, and Church in Practice. You are also expected to read, and complete normally two assignments per module.

Assessment and Qualifications
There are no examinations and assessment uses a variety of methods from the traditional essay through to presentations and reflective practice reports. By the end of four years of study, it is possible to have completed a foundation degree.

If you study for two years in addition, you may qualify for a Bachelor of Arts degree. If you already have a qualification accredited by a recognised establishment of higher education, you may enter the programme at a higher level.
