Exploring
Discipleship
Extending
Vocation
is an
exciting
initiative
in the
Methodist
Church
about
engaging
the whole
people
of God
in the
adventure
of learning
for ministry
and service.
There
are a
number
of structured
programmes
available
in the
South
East
to support
this,
including
those
offered
by the
Guy Chester
Centre
(www.chestercentre.org.uk),
with
whom
we work
in partnership
on Methodist
training.

Programme
Structure
We offer
a one year
programme
of theological
study
and vocational
exploration
in association
with
GCC.
It is
designed
to enable
those
who have
no previous
experience
of theology
to gain
a solid
foundation
in the
subject
within
a year.
The programme
provides
an introduction
to Biblical
Studies,
Christian
Doctrine and Ethics, and Practical Theology.
It also
includes
a number
of quiet
days
at GCC
led by
their
experienced
staff,
which
will
focus
on vocational
discernment.
This
one-year
programme
involves
weekly
evening
classes
(6.30pm –
9.00pm)
during
term times
on either
a Tuesday
in Southwark or Wednesday
in Medway.
The year
is divided
into three terms
and you
will study
one module
in each term.

Introduction
to Theology
During
the year
you will
study a
module
in each
of the
following
three strands
of our
curriculum:
Biblical
Studies,
Christian Doctrine
and Ethics, and Church in Practice.
You are
also expected
to read,
and complete
normally
two assignments
per module.
There are
no examinations
and assessment
uses a
variety
of methods
from the
traditional
essay through
to presentations
and reflective
practice
reports.
